My child is about 20 months old right now and we are slowly introducing the concept of the “potty”. My wife bough a little training potty and we leave it in the bathroom and make mention of it once and while when we are in the bathroom.
We always ask our child before bath time if they would like to try the potty. Of course, the answer is a strong “NO”! Then one day, like magic, our kid jumps on the potty and is just having a great time on it. Keep in mind it’s right before the bath, so it’s birthday suit time. Well, we were just laughing and then just started making each other laugh so much my child starting peeing in the potty and obviously understanding what was happening.
The poor kid leaped up and looked as if he had seen a ghost! It was really funny to see the laughter turn to peeing and then to “what the heck was that!” Needless to say, that potty has not been touched since.

I was on my way out of the drug store recently with my 4 year old tugging at my right hand and my 2 year old hanging precariuosly from my left hip. At that moment, a car alrm started going off across the street. These things annoy (and frighten though he won’t admit it) my 4 year old to the bone. So, he throws himself to the ground and demands, “Say bad boy to that car dad . . . SAY BAD BOY DAD. . . DAAAD!” SO, while juggling the baby, a diaper bag, and the bag from the drug store I commence to reprimand this naughty automobile so my son will pick himself up and get in the truck. After a number of “BAD BOY CAR!”s my son finally found it in his heart to let me off of the hook and get this spectical down the road. Once all of the snaps and belts and clicks were done, I looked up to see 4 older ladies laughing them selves sincless in front of the truck! gotta love em’
